ROME AND VIRGIL, HISTORY AND MYTH
To celebrate the foundation of Rome on 21 April 753 BC during the Imperial Roman era, Virgil composed the Aeneid. In this epic poem, where history and legend meet to tell the tale of the tireless Trojan hero, Aeneas, the ideas of strength, grandness and Roman civility are celebrated.
